GET OUT OF BED, it'll be worth it, promise

So its Saturday morning and you're sitting at home in your pyjamas no doubt on the couch flipping channels with half open eyes, feeling sorry for yourself because of your deadly headache. When it does come time to eat, you'll probably take a slow, food slide to the kitchen and grab yourself a bowl of cereal or if we're being interesting, a piece of toast.

There are so many great and hidden breakfast/brunch places to go in Cape Town that are really worth that (what now seems unthinkable) process of getting dressed and leaving the house.

Treat yourself...
My TOP 5 Breakfast/Brunch Places in Cape Town: (not in order)

1. The Bird Cafe.
This relaxed eatery, belonging to well-established chefs, Kevin and Lee, serves up simple, good, wholesome food with great flavour. Their portions are medium-sized and the pride they take in the designing of each plate makes a real difference. The atmosphere is wonderfully offbeat and the interior is contemporary and uniquely communcal because of the large table structure.
The must haves: the chicken pie, the green juice, the egg-white omelet, the paw-paw health juice the to-die-for crepes.
Address: 127 Bree Street, Cape Town.

2. Origin.

The king of gourmet coffee in Cape Town, Origin's cool and New York-style feel, local diverse crowd and delicious selection of breakfast and coffee make it top in its field. Origin also offers a selection of exotic teas which you are able to drink there or take away (as well as coffee beans!)
The must haves: the scrambled eggs, the eggs-benedict and all coffees and teas are worth trying!
Address: 28 Hudson Street, Cape Town.

3. Superette.

Woodstock has become quite a happening area and this stylish cafe is right in the heart.
The interior is simple and contemporary yet so different and gripping. You can taste the quality in all the dishes! Order either at the bar or wait for a waiter and while waiting take a little look at the Superette shopping section filled with delicious, organic products (the honey is a must!) and quirky crockery that you'll just feel an immediate desire and need for.
The must haves: the 'All Day breakfast', the flat white, the nutella pancakes.
Address: 218 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town.

4. Skinny Legs and All.

This classy cafe has the tendency of making you feel like you've escaped to somewhere in upper-class USA... perhaps Soho in New York, or even the Hamptons! It is owned by two, beautiful 21 year old twin sisters and it used to be an art gallery, now its classic, elegant and comfortable atmosphere and the odd painting on the crisp white walls create its minimalistic appeal. All their produce is local and made by the girls.
The must haves: the french toast, the warm goats cheese salad, the ginger juice, the cappucino (served in exquisite locally-made pottery!), an open sandwich with sourdough, homemade lemonade.
Address: 70 Loop Street, City Centre, Cape Town.

5. The Old  Biscuit Mill.
The place that really makes it feel like a Saturday. Expect a busy morning (which very usually turns into lunch too) filled with a delcious variety of food (from fresh juices to thin-based gourmet pizzas to sushi and dim-sum to biscuits and pastries wine and micro-breweries) the market is open from 9am-2pm. After your meal.. or two.. or seven, head across to check out the shops and up and coming artists presenting their work.
The must haves: the pizza, the fresh-fruit smoothies, the pancakes.
Address: 375 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town.

Go on, its only a few metres to the bedroom!
