Holi One Festival Cape Town:
Holi is a religious spring festival celebrated by Hindus as a festival of colours.
It is primarily observed in India and Nepal. It is also observed by the minority Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan as well in countries with large Indic diaspora populations following Hinduis.
Cape Town has had the likes of Michael Buble or even Deadmau5 visit our mother city but never have we had a festival of colours. On the 2nd of March 2013 we experienced the Holi One festival at the Grand Parade in Town.
I arrived with a friend and we met up with a group of people. When you arrived at the door you received 4 packets of luminous paint; every hour there was a countdown directed by someone on the grand stage and on '1' all paint would be thrown in the air (note the below photo).
There was a main stage where constant DJ's played and added to the carefree and downright happy atmosphere. It felt like we had all escaped real life.
There wasn't one individual who wasn't smiling nor looking like an absolute rainbow!
If the Holi One festival ever comes to where you live. You cannot miss it under any circumstance!
